Wellington Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive learning environment located in the heart of East London. With a strong emphasis on digital literacy and student independence, the school serves a diverse community and prides itself on fostering creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence across all year groups.
Wellington Primary School sought to modernise its data management and student access systems. The existing setup relied heavily on O Drive, an outdated and unreliable synchronisation tool between Google Workspace and the school’s on-premise server. This caused frequent data discrepancies, duplication, and confusion among staff. The school aimed to migrate student data to individual Google accounts to improve accessibility and reduce technical issues. Additionally, they wanted to simplify student logins in the ICT suite by implementing Wonde MyLogin Lite. The project included configuring Google Drive on staff devices, delivering remote training, and assisting with data migration. A clear timeline was established to ensure minimal disruption to teaching and learning.
We began by addressing the core issue: the unreliable synchronisation between Google Workspace and the local server via O Drive. This legacy software was causing data mismatches, duplication, and potential corruption. Our solution involved removing the dependency on the local shared drive and configuring Google Drive directly on all user devices. This ensured that staff accessed a single, consistent version of their files, eliminating confusion and improving collaboration.
To support this transition, we provided remote training sessions tailored to staff needs, ensuring everyone understood the new system and could use it confidently. Clear communication was key, and we supplied guidance materials to reinforce best practices.
For students, we migrated their data from shared areas into individual Google Drives, promoting ownership and ease of access. To further streamline device access, we recommended and implemented Wonde MyLogin Lite. This SSO solution allows students to log in using QR codes, emojis, or simple passcodes—perfect for younger learners. It reduces login-related downtime, enhances security, and fosters independence, all while minimising the burden on teaching and IT staff.
The migration to Google Drive and implementation of Wonde MyLogin Lite delivered immediate benefits. Staff now enjoy seamless access to synchronised data, free from duplication and confusion. Training empowered them to use the new system effectively, improving productivity and collaboration. Students gained secure, age-appropriate access to devices, significantly reducing login times and classroom disruptions. Teachers reported fewer technical issues, allowing them to focus more on teaching. The ICT suite now operates more efficiently, with students logging in independently and confidently. Overall, the school has embraced a more modern, secure, and user-friendly digital environment.
